I’m happy to report that audiobook versions of all my novels are being released or re-released, starting this week.
Out now are the first two books in my Kaspar Brothers series: The Losing Role and Liberated.
I’m more than excited about this. Audiobooks have been exploding in popularity for years, and I want more readers to discover my books.
For these new releases, my publisher Open Road Media has partnered with ElevenLabs, who’s leading the way in synthetically voiced audiobooks. As Open Road describes it, my stories are “narrated using advanced digital voice technology for clear, natural-sounding storytelling.”
I greatly respect the art of human narrators, and I want to support them, so I was relieved to hear that many of these synthetic voices are licensed from real voice actors who receive royalty payouts for their efforts (actor Julian Bane for The Losing Role, for example).
Plus, human editors manually direct and fine-tune the pacing, tone, and pronunciation to ensure the storytelling remains as engaging as possible. This is far more creative than just AI speech, in other words.
In the end, I was surprised and simply blown away by how clear and natural these voices sound.
I hope you’ll give them a listen and decide for yourself.
The new audiobooks are available on most major platforms:
Audiobooks.com (Storytel)
And many more, with Amazon/Audible hopefully to come.
Coming next, late in October, is my Wendell Lett series: Under False Flags and The Preserve, followed by the rest of my novels.
Happy listening,
Steve
PS: A favorite September pastime here in Vienna—wandering vineyards above the city among stunning views and amazing wine taverns.
